A lot of people try to lose weight –both for aesthetic reasons and for reasons that are actually related to their health. However, not many of them are actually aware of the fact that there are a lot of things they can do even at night in order to boost their weight loss.

Adjust Your Room Temperature before You Go to SleepHave Enough Water

Studies show that a chillier room is more beneficial for weight loss. Of course, you don’t have to sleep and be cold, but turning down your thermostat at least a bit can help you burn up to 7% more calories. This may not sound like a lot, but over time, it can add up and help you lose more weight.

You probably know already that drinking water is absolutely crucial not only for those of you trying to lose weight, but also for those of you who simply want to be healthy. Make sure you don’t drink water one hour before you go to sleep if you don’t want to make frequent “trips” to the bathroom though!

Low-Sodium Dinner

Studies show that eating a dinner high in sodium can make you wake up puffier than you went to sleep. The reason is actually simple to understand: salt retains water in our bodies – and this can make us feel bloated and “puffy”.

Dark Rooms

Our bodies secret a hormone called “melatonin” when we’re in the dark. Researchers have shown that people with more melatonin in their bodies burn more calories as well. Thus, before you go to sleep, make sure your room is super-dark. Of course, this will probably not help you lose weight instantly, overnight, but it can definitely help the process at least a bit.

Pack Your Lunch

If you want to avoid rushing into the next burger shop for lunch, make sure you pack your own lunch. Healthy sandwiches, salads and a lot of other healthy meals can be easily packed the night before – so that you don’t have to waste your time in the morning when you wake up. Pack your lunch at night and your body will thank you tomorrow!


Up until not very long ago, it was believed that working out before sleep could damage the quality of the way we sleep. However, more recent research has shown that this is not entirely true. In fact, working out at any time of the day will help you sleep tighter at night- even if you choose to work out before going to sleep. So grab your dumbbells or your running shoes and do a quick workout before you tuck yourself in bed! You will be very happy you did so – and your weight loss program will be aided too!
