If you want to lead a healthy way of life you must be able to recognize the early signs of liver problems. If you do not have a properly functioning liver, your life and health will be affected negatively. However, your liver is able to repair itself, so if you notice any problems which are prevented from further development, then your liver will recuperate.
Symptoms associated with liver problems:
1
Skin discoloration –Jaundice
Your liver cannot filter out toxins from the body and there may be a build-up of Bilirubin-a bile pigment (bile is a substance produced by your liver to help you digest food). And, your body is not able to exclude this Bilirubin and it remains in your bloodstream and therefore your skin becomes yellowish on the outside. This includes your fingernails, finger tips, and eyes. This condition is also named: Jaundice.
2
Changes in the color of the stool and the urine
If you see any changes of the urine color, this may mean that you have a certain liver problem. When everything is alright, and you are drinking enough fluids, your urine should be pale and clear. However, if it darkens (caused by the excess Bilirubin) it may be connected with a liver problem. Also, your stool can become pale, bloody or black.
3
Skin sensitivity
If your skin is very sensitive and itchy when touched, it may be a symptom of liver problem. If you keep the skin moist, it may be helpful but the condition will go on and probably become even worse until you get the proper diagnosis and treatment.
4
Fatigue
If you feel week or tired it may be related to a liver problem. Actually, your body is working harder so it can survive which results in your body needing more and more rest. If such feelings appear together with any of these other mentioned symptoms, than you should consult a doctor.
5
Abdominal area changes
Pain or cramps in the lower part of the abdomen transformed into feeling full with gas. If this problem is not properly treated it may lead to Ascitis. This is a condition of build-up of fluids in the abdomen walls. This causes pressure on the lungs which leads to breathing difficulties. If you experience such a condition, then you must undergo a Paracentesis which is a medical procedure in which a needle or a catheter is inserted in your peritoneum cavity to drain off the fluids.
6
Acid reflux and vomiting
Experiencing frequent indigestion and acid reflux which can lead to vomiting is also a symptom of liver malfunction.
7
Fluid retention
It appears in the lower legs, feet and ankles in the form of swelling. If you press the skin, an imprint is left for several seconds after you remove the pressure.
8
Appetite loss
It usually does not appear until the liver malfunction has progressed to a certain degree. If you experience this symptom together with the other ones mentioned you should consult a doctor, since it may be a more advanced liver condition.
9
Diarrhea
Since the liver is crucial for the digestion, if it begins to malfunction it results in diarrhea.
10
Generally unwell
Since your liver is not filtering toxins regularly from your blood, it may manifest in different ways, such as skin problems, irritability, headaches.
Enable your liver to look out after you. If you take care for it, you can lead a healthy lifestyle. As we previously mentioned, your liver can recover on its own if you spot any malfunction early, by knowing these abovementioned symptoms. Moreover, if you experience a liver disease (not chronic) you will be able to lead an active life, but you may have to follow a special form of nutrition.
Unless you are unlucky enough to pick up a viral infection, if you take care of liver it will take care for you as well.
