Let’s have a look at some of the things you should stop doing to improve the longevity of your life:
Cut Out Or Down On Processed Foods
Processed food has increased amount of sodium, more sugar and much less fiber than clean foods. It leads to an array of different problems such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension, heartburn and cardiovascular disease. If you want to live a healthier lifestyle try and eat as clean as possible, and although you may not completely cut of processed foods, minimizing it as much as possible will help you both short term and long term. On top of this processed foods are known to cause heartburn which has lead to people having cancer caused by Zantac that is used to treat it.
Quit Smoking
If you smoke, then you know how hard it is to quit. However, quitting is one of the best things you can do. Even if you have smoked nearly all your life you will still see the improvement and reap the benefits from quitting. Your body is surprisingly forgiving so it doesn’t matter if you decide to phase it out or go cold-turkey. You will start to see your blood circulation and pressure improve soon after quitting and your risk of cancer will decrease every year. Not only that you will no longer be damaging people with second-hand smoke and you will look younger.
Keep Moving
You should aim to try and get at least 30 minutes of exercise five times a week. If you’re someone who sits at a desk to work each day try to make an effort to move around a little more. Take regular breaks away from your seated position in order to alleviate any problems with back pain, stiff muscles and circulation problems. Consider taking a walk on your lunch break a few times a week if you haven’t got time to exercise when you go home.
Stop Thinking That Only Big Changes Matter
Making radical changes might seem inspiring, however, they are often the changes to revert back to bad habits. Try splitting your goals into smaller more manageable changes in order to be more successful. Next time you promise that you’re going to eat healthier or exercise more, start by aiming low with minimal changes and then once you’re used to that change add in another one. Try things like getting up ten minutes earlier so you can prepare a healthy lunch or going for a fifteen-minute walk on lunch. The smaller changes tend to go unnoticed and you don’t feel as though they’re affecting what you are used to much.
These are just four areas that you should stop doing in order to improve your health, do you have anything that you have stopped that could also help? Please share them in the comments below.
