Exercise
We all know that we should be exercising and that our bodies need to be active to be at their best, but that old issue of time is often the killer. So the first thing to address is how can we fit a workout into our busy schedules? Well, to do that we are going to turn to the advice of medical science, a good place to start whenever you are considering health. The suggestions from the experts are that we should get a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise and three days of strength training per week. So they suggest that a little over three hours in a week with 168 is enough for a healthy lifestyle. But what are aerobic and strength exercises? To understand what you need to be doing, you should first know what they do. Aerobic exercises are aimed at getting your cardiovascular muscles working by generating aerobic energy. So the kind of exercise that you should be turning to for a moderate workout would be running, swimming, cycling and briskly walking. Strength training looks at improving skeletal muscles by using resistance methods of working out such as push-up, squats and lunges.
While exercise is a good starting point for any health plan, you should also consider your current health. If you need to seek the advice of an expert in women’s health or for other medical needs than you should prioritize that.
Diet
As well as exercise, there is a need to ensure our diet meets the requirements of our bodies. In the modern day there has been a growing number of fad diets, brought about by the easy access to them via the internet, that either don’t help or are short-term solutions. While these ideas might seem great, they can often be more trouble than they are worth and you are better off going back to basics. For our bodies to be working at their optimum levels, we all need to ensure that we are getting the six essential nutrient groups into our diet.
- Carbohydrates
- Fats
- Proteins
- Vitamins
- Minerals
- Water
A balance of these six food groups will be the best way for you to be confident that your body is getting the fuel it needs to provide you with energy and the strong immune system you need.
