And it might be less than you'd think!

When you're trying to lose weight, it's easy to assume you need to really go for it at the gym if you want to see results.
But, in news that has delighted our inner gym dodger, one hormone specialist believes that exercising
too intensely can actually hinder your slimming efforts – and that you
may not need to work out for as long as you'd imagine to see results.

It's all down to the hormones released during long or intense exercise sessions, the Mail Online reports
According to Dr Sara
Gottfried, working out too much or too intensely 'puts stress on the
body, which prompts the release of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH)
and cortisol'.
Speaking to Mind Body Green, she explained that both of these hormones can be detrimental to weight loss: cortisol decreases blood flow to the gut and block digestion, while CRH can negatively affect your gut health.
The
good news? Dr Gottfried believes that you should be aiming for between
20 and 30 minutes of exercise, four times per week to see results.

Even
better news for those of us who hate the gym, Dr Gottfried believes we
should aim to incorporate more activity into our days: think less
intensive but more regular movement, such as including short walks throughout your day rather than cramming everything into one work out.
Well, that definitely beats slogging it on out the treadmill in our book!
