Pharmaceutical companies around the world are trying to develop a vaccine
for the novel coronavirus as quickly as possible. Much research has been conducted in order to develop safe vaccines using robust technologies. However, contrary to what
one world leader might be saying, no, a vaccine will not be created by
Christmas. The reason is, they are so complex. Vaccines are going to be
distributed and used by the entire world population. So they need to be
carefully designed and able to help people instead of harming them. But with
a vaccine, you are given a dosage of the virus along with antibodies in
order to stir up an immune response from your own body. So the challenge is
huge but business is adapting very rapidly and this is how.
AstraZeneca and it's research
Based in Cambridge, England, this pharma company is very well-known. It has
some of the brightest scientific minds in the world and it's been developing
Britain’s vaccine for the past few months. Its own vaccine is currently in
the trailing stages, seeing some successes and some setbacks. The company is
producing some of the world’s best research into the matter and doing so in
a very expeditious way.
It used equipment such as a vaccine fridge which can store vaccines in the
optimal temperature for study, use and research purposes. These fridges can
come in under bench, ultra-large and freestanding designs. Currently, they
are manufacturing the vaccine under a strict regulatory basis which the
British government has set out. After a second-stage trial setback, things
are now looking to be back on track.
