Q: Can Local Raw Honey Help Fight Allergies?
Oz says: The theory goes that eating raw honey
made near your home exposes you to the same pollen that's causing your
symptoms, so you teach your immune system to handle it (similar to the
way allergy shots work).
Don't expect miracles: There's not much pollen
in raw honey (it's made from nectar, but some pollen can find its way
in). If you eat raw honey on a regular basis, however, you might as well
go local to see if it helps you. No matter what, it helps your nearby beekeepers, and I think that's great, too.

Don't Just Bear It
If the honey jar isn't helping, pop an antihistamine. No relief after a few weeks? See an allergist, who can test for what's causing your symptoms and zero in on the best treatments, including allergy shots or immunotherapy tablets.
