Home Health Technology That Can Benefit Seniors

When you grow a little bit older, you look at the modern technology that is increasingly developing in the world, and think, ‘wow, what on earth is all of this?’ As time goes on, there is an increasing divide between the technology that older people are used to, and that which is used by young people all over the world. However, there are those seniors who are embracing new tech with open arms, and there is every reason to. Here’s some home health technology, that could make your life better, and easier.

Sleep tracking apps

With the popularization of iPhones and their Android counterparts, there has emerged many different apps, some of which can help to make you feel happier, and healthier. One of the most popular health apps is the sleep tracker, which keeps a note of how well you’re sleeping, whether your sleep was deep, and what your heart rate was like throughout the night.

You don’t need to have any other equipment to use the app, you just need to keep your phone on your bedside table, and it will monitor your sleep, waking you up when you set an alarm. If you give a window period - of, say, 30 to 90 minutes - the app will gently wake you up when you’re at the end of a REM cycle.

WiFi and bluetooth hearing aids

OK, so we all know what hearing aids look like. Bulky, obvious, and not exactly the most stylish. However, modern hearing aid technology has helped to make hearing aids that are a lot more easy on the eye, and they also have a whole host of great features, that you may not have even expected. We really are getting some great technology in 2019, huh?

If you want to listen to something on a device, such as a TV or laptop, you can now connect your hearing aid to it via bluetooth or WiFi, and they can work alongside each other as a result. If you make a change on one of the devices, the same change will be made on the other, which is a useful bit of tech for anybody with hearing issues.

Medication reminders

We’ve all been there. We’re prescribed medication, that we have to take at a specific time each day, but remembering it all of the time is just so difficult. However, with modern technology, you can set an alert on your phone so that you get a reminder to take your medication at the same time each day, meaning that you’ll never miss a pill.

The reminder apps on the market can also prompt you to remember other things, like to get some exercise in, or to turn the heater off before you go to sleep. These reminders really could help to make your life a lot easier, and they can lessen the effects of memory loss on a day-to-day basis, making you feel happier and healthier.

So, if you want to try out some home health technology, then remember these simple things!
